The latest update on the court case regarding the pit. (With video)
A current lawsuit filed by proponents of the landfill (Tom and Danah Zoulek of Scenic Pit, LLC) is an injunction against the Village of Richfield. It is expected that a Summary Judgment will be issued on this lawsuit on September 1, 2015. The Wisconsin Supreme Court has precedence in recognizing the rights of municipalities:
“….while the State may have the exclusive right to license certain operations, that right does not preclude municipalities from regulating the zoning and use of a property on which an operation occurs”
